Mercantile coaches Excel at World Under 23 Championships

The Australian team did very well at the 2023 World Under 23 Championships with all crews making the A finals and finishing with a Gold, a Silver and three Bronze medals across the regatta, good enough for equal third on World Rowing’s official medal tally. This bodes well for future years.

World Cup 3, Mercs Members on the podium

Wow, what a finish to WC3! The finals started with a win for Jess Morrison in the women's pair, a result which was expected given their outstanding form this year.

Day 2 Lucerne - Jess shines again

In day 2 of World Cup 3, two Mercantile members raced for A final places. Jess Morrison in the women's pair with partner Annabelle McIntyre, again showed their class and why they are favourites in this event. They won their semi-final in the fastest time.

Club member Jess Morrison, along with partner Annabelle McIntyre, raced at Holland Beker Regatta in The Netherlands as a warm up for World Cup 3. Not only were they favourites for the race, but they won, and in a world best time for the women's pair. Huge congratulations to Jess and Annabelle.

Cocktail Party Fundraiser - 26th August 2023

The time has come to book your tickets and sell to others for our gala event of the year, our pre season Cocktail party. All proceeds to go to the purchase of a new Empacher for our ladies.

World Cup 3 Commences with Ferg Hamilton called up

World Cup 3 has begun on Friday with time trial heats, repechages and quarter finals - a big day of racing. In great news for Fergus Hamilton, he has joined the Australian team in Lucerne after being a late call up. Fergus missed the trials as he had to finish his academic studies at Yale and has only recently been invited to join the team.

Mercs takes the Club and Senior Premierships

Rowing Victoria has announced the premierships for 2023 as follows with Mercs taking out the Club and Senior Premierships. We even finished third in the grade premiership despite only racing in a small number of grade regattas.

Mercs farewells Ben Edmundson

Saturday breakfast this morning farewelled Ben Edmundson who is returning to the UK. Ben enjoyed a successful season with Mercs including podium finishes at the National Championships.

Congratulations to Club members Hon Pat McNamara AM and Andrew Guerin OAM on receipt of their awards today in the King's Birthday Australian Honours.

The Colgan Foundation extends its sponsorships to Leander Club

Sean and Bibi Colgan through the Colgan Foundation have extended their sponsorship of developing talent to Leander Club in the UK. Sean and Bibi spend a few months a year in their house in Henley and he will watch his five year arrangement with great interest.

Fundraising for the new women's eight

As part of the annual planning is to update the Club's women's eight and provide our Club women rowers more access to one of the two existing eights This is a worthy cause. The women have chosen an Empacher as their preferred boat which will cost $100,000 landed at the Club.
