In accordance with government advice, we ask that all members be vaccinated. This is specifically the case for those members who intend to use the boathouse when reopened.

Paralympics in review in images

The Paralympics took an even more special place in our hearts with our own Al Viney competing in the PR3 four and the highly competitive para rowing squad at Mercs. Australia finished with a silver medal for Erik Horrie in the PR1 Scull, a fourth place in the PR3 mixed four and a seventh place for the PR2 mixed double scull.

Suspension of NTC Testing Camps

Rowing Australia has announced that based on the current lockdowns in both NSW and the ACT, the ongoing uncertainty regarding the extended timelines for these, and the status of domestic border restrictions on interstate travel, it will be suspending the conduct of the National Training Centre (NTC) Testing Camps, currently scheduled for 4 – 8 October, 2021.

National Coaching & Officiating Course Cancelled

Sadly, due to the current COVID-19 situation, Rowing Australia has had to cancel the 2021 Coaching and Officiating Conference that was due to be held on the Gold Coast from 15-17 October. The new dates are from 22 to 24 April 2022 in the Gold Coast.

Vale Cliff Restarick

Sadly we lost another one of our distinguished rowers from 1960s, Cliff Restarick. Cliff was a member of the first winning Ballarat High School crew in the Head of the Lake in 1947 and coxed our successful lightweight squad in the mid to late 1960s.

Please enjoy the vicarious glow of Olympic glory with Club member Jess Morrison becoming an Olympic Champion in the Women's Four and Ria Thompson taking bronze in the quad scull. As Club members, we have all contributed to this success.

More Olympic Event Reorganisation

Wednesday is now the day to down tools and watch the racing. Monday racing was brought forward to today as previously advised and now Tuesday racing has been pushed forward to Wednesday. There is no racing on Monday or Tuesday.
