Year 10/11/12 Winter Program

High-performing school rowers and coxswains in Year 12 and Year 10 & 11 are invited to sign up to the Mercantile Winter Program.

The program is aimed at athletes that want to put themselves in the best position to achieve their goals in the 2023-24 season by improving their sweep/sculling skills and developing their fitness.

The athletes accepted into the program will have the opportunity to train amongst the Mercantile athlete group including state and AUS representatives.

For Year 12 athletes it is an opportunity to transition into club rowing at Mercantile, train with Mercantile Youth Squads and be eligible for racing in our Melbourne Head and Head of the Yarra crews.

For Year 10-11 athletes, it is an opportunity to train at Mercantile Rowing club with athletes from other schools, progress technically on the water and have a training program over winter.

*These two squads will train separately.

The program is led by our AUS representative coaches Al Matthews and Annabelle Eaton with the support of our professional and volunteer coaching team.

Dates

Registration is required by Monday 1 May 2023

The program runs for 12 weeks commencing the week beginning Monday 8th May and concludes 30th July.

Time Commitment

Program includes three sessions per week with flexible training days.

Limited Spots Available

The number of athletes accepted into the program are strictly limited. Athletes need to provide all necessary information in the sign up form and should be prepared to undertake a skill/fitness testing session prior to the acceptance into the program.

Cost

The Winter 2023 program costs $650, payable after being accepted into the program.

A Mercantile club zootie is included in the cost.

* 'School Leaver Membership' is included for year 12’s for the season 2023/2024, valued at $415.
