World Cup 3 has begun on Friday with time trial heats, repechages and quarter finals - a big day of racing.
In great news for Fergus Hamilton, he has joined the Australian team in Lucerne after being a late call up. Fergus missed the trials as he had to finish his academic studies at Yale and has only recently been invited to join the team.
Fergus has done that in style stroking the men's pair with Simon Keenan in bow. They finished second in their heat and third in their quarter final, thus qualifying for the semi-finals.
Our roving reporter Bill Webster (who is on the jury) caught Fergus and Simon in the heat
In other results, our women's eight containing club members Paige Barr and Hayley Verbunt finished third in their preliminary race.
Our roving reporter Bill Webster again snapping the girls in full flight
And our men's eight containing Club members Gus Widdicombe and Jack Robertson won their heat. They were fortunate to be in the better of the two heats with other heat containing the British, Dutch, German and Canadian eights. Their final will require a step up in gears with better opposition.
Club member Jess Morrison, along with partner Annabelle McIntyre, again showed their class in the pair with a win in the heat. This will take this crew direct to the semi-finals in a race in which they are favoured to win.
Again our roving reporter captured the pair in their heat.
Finally, Club member Kat Werry in the four won their heat and progress straight through to the semi-final. They are again showing podium form racing.
