The cream rose to the top on the first day of finals, and the competition was fierce. The quality of racing was superb despite adverse wind conditions.

Anna Morrison and Bronte Cullen raced very well in the A final to finish fifth. Jake Polkinghorne and Oscar Scalzo finished second in the men's under 21 B final.

Benedict Edmondson and Lachlan Wilmot also finished fifth in the under 23 pairs.

Lou Bongrain did one better in the under 23 single narrowly missing out on a podium spot in fourth.

And Dom Frederico did one better reaching the podium in the men's under 23 single finishing third.

More success followed in the men's and women's open pairs.

Kat Werry combined with Lucy Stephan to win the impressive Sarah Tait award, closely followed by Jess Morrison and Molly Goodman.

They then played up to the cameras with a party trick!

Paige Barr and Georgie Gleeson won the B final with Mimi Tuddenham in fourth place in that race.

Gus Widdicombe again showed he was in top form this season finishing second on the men's pair with Harley Moore.

Then Ben Whitmee and Jordan Roberts won what must be fast becoming a Mercantile own trophy - the under 23 men's lightweight pair.
