Last night were the last of semi-finals and repechages and some non-Olympic finals. The conditions were a tough head breeze with very slow times. The conditions were so bad that there was a 15 second difference between one semi-final of the women's scull and the next heat!
The day started with Eric Horrie qualifying for the A final, but well behind the leading crews. He had a competitive first 1000m.
Tara Rigney also qualified for final A finishing second in her semi-final behind the Amercian sculler. Tara led through the first 1500m but allowed the American to sprint home first.
Sadly the women's double finished fifth in their semi final so will contest the B final.
Then the women's eight had a great tussle with Great Britain and the Canadians. The British crew lead for the first three quarters of the race with the Australians either in second or third place at various stages. As nuch as eights races can be. the Australian raced a measured race. Well done to Club members Paige Barr and Hayley Verbunt.
The day finished with a gold medal in the PR3 mixed double of Nikki Ayers and Jed Altschwager. Congratulations to this double who hold the world's best time in that event.
