National Championships Awarded to Nagambie

Published Mon 21 Mar 2022

As previously reported, the National Championships had to be moved from the flooded and hence poor water quality Sydney International Regatta Centre. The date of the Championships could not be moved as that would devastate the entries. With Adelaide unable to make a decision due to an election, the resulting candidates were Ballarat and Nagambie. Nagambie was awarded the gig despite accomodation issues.

Rowing Australia, Rowing Victoria and Shire of Strathbogie are all working overtime to make the course ready in time.

The first test event was Scotch Mercantile and it went well last Saturday. The Head of the River will use much of the technology and systems that will be used for the Nationals and so will be a good test of the course.

Despite all the last minute confusion, entries look to be at record levels and the regatta will proceed well.

The Championships will be conducted from Monday 28th March to Sunday 3rd April.
