Mercantile shines at the Easter Regattas

Published Sun 09 Apr 2023

Mercantilehad a good and successful time at the Easter Regattas, again. We are again a key participant at the regattas and our presence much welcomed.

Great leadership has been shown by Jordan King, Andrew McNeil, Anthony Bergelin, Ally Legge, Jenisi Kelderman, Paul Somerville and Meghan Hester to name just some of those behind this venture. Premierships will come Mercantile's way as a result.

To the details with our resident photographer Andrew McNeil providing the images.

Special mention of some rowers who have just joined the Club and have excellent rowing pedigrees, Tom and Lucy Bergelin, children of Club great Anthony Bergelin, and Jo and Caitlin Somerville, daughters of another Club great Paul Somerville. Welcome.

The Somerville name is awash at the Club at the moment with children of John, Paul and Peter Somerville all competing successfully for the Club.

Rod Edwards (above) made a comeo performance winning a division of masters sculls and Andrew McNeil picked up a win in another division. Rod is a farmer up that neck of the woods.

Sunday racing produced a similar number of victories making a very successful weekend for Mercs.

Go Mercs and Go Clubbies.
