Another superb night at the Club on Henley Eve celebrating the contributions of Mal Batten, Al Viney, Gus Widdiicombe and Mick Williams.
In the early evening light, the boat namings were conducted
Our new eight is named in honour of Malcolm Batten

Al Viney ensures that there is no second chances for that bottle
And then celebrates with other Club members
Gus does the deed with his boat
And then shares the moment with family
In keeping with a recently commenced practice, the Club's sculls are named after past prominant members so that their contributions are remembered. This time, we had the pleasure of recognising Mick Williams whose family have been members continuously in the Club for over 100 years. One of his daughters married Hubert Frederico and so Mick's great grandchildren are continuing the tradition by successfully rowing for the Club. Mick was a larger than life character who "ruled" Rowing Victoria as President from 1955 until his death in 1974.
