Former Mercs member and rower in the 1980s, His Hon. Chief Justivce Bill Alstergren AO of the Federal Circuit and Family Court was acknowledged in the Queens Birthday Honours list today becoming an officer of the Order of Australia. After Bill raced at Mercs, he concentrated on winter sports becoming the Australian bob-sledding coach. His award was primarily for his great and continuing work to the law, currently being Chief Justice of the Family Court.
Also congratulations to SA rowing legend Lindsay Southcott becoming a member of the Order of Australia.
