Zoë Fettig-Winn, former varsity athlete turned dedicated coach, brings a wealth of experience to her role with the youth women's squad at Mercantile. Having spent seven successful years coaching the women's team at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada, Zoë is well-versed in developing talent and fostering team growth.
At UBC, Zoë led the charge in establishing a thriving novice development program, alongside her expertise in strength and conditioning and active rehabilitation. Her coaching philosophy centres on individualized attention, ensuring a smooth transition for young athletes from school-level to elite club training and national/international competitions.
Passionate about creating a strong team culture, Zoë believes in empowering athletes to challenge themselves without fear of failure. Her goal this season is to elevate the youth squad's performance by implementing challenging and purposeful training programs. With a focus on technical precision and mental resilience, Zoë aims to equip her athletes to lead state and national teams or prepare for successful collegiate rowing careers abroad.
Adding to her coaching accolades, Zoë was a crucial member of the coaching staff for the silver-medaling 2024 Victorian State U21 team, boasting Mercantile athletes among its ranks. Her crews have celebrated victories at prestigious regattas like Head of the Schoolgirls', Royal Canadian Henley, and Head of the Charles, with podium finishes at the Australian Nationals, Victorian State Championships, Canadian University Championships, and the San Diego Crew Classic.
As an accomplished athlete herself, Zoë earned a remarkable third-place finish at the 2014 U23 World Rowing Championships in the W4-. Her dedication to excellence and proven track record make her an invaluable asset to Mercantile's youth women's squad, poised for success at every stroke.
