Nick Lloyd is our Head Coach for our High-Performance and athlete development programs at Mercantile. With 25 years of coaching experience under his belt, he is a seasoned and eminent figure in the world of rowing having coached at every level of the sport across multiple continents.
Nick has nurtured talented and driven athletes to success, coaching national champion crews from prestigious schools like Shore, Melbourne Grammar, Brighton Grammar, and King's College in New Zealand. His accolades include victories at the New South Wales and Victorian Schoolboy 1st 8+ Head of the River, clinching the Australian Schoolboy 8+ Championship four times and triumphing twice at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta.
Most recently, Nick has been the lead coach for the Swiss women's national team, contributing significantly to the National Training Centre in Sarnen, guiding crews to podium finishes at World Cups and securing a 4th place with the women's quadruple scull at the 2023 World Championships.
With a keen eye for talent development, Nick has honed his skills in coaching high-performance athletes, both men and women, across different age groups, and works to deliver on the promise of Mercantile being the pinnacle Australian rowing club and a true mecca for rowing.
