Clare Ward

Clare started rowing at Loreto in year 8 where she won Head of the School Girls in year 8. This got her hooked on the sport early. She then rowed the whole way through school winning Nationals in the School Girl 8 in 2014, which has been the highlight of my rowing career.

She rowed for four years at Mercantile as a light weight sculler as well as being involved in the youth and club 8’s. Her final year of rowing was in the UK, for the University of Exeter with another Mercs Alumni Sophie Coltman.

They raced together on the Thames and in Oxford coming second to Oxford Brookes which was quite exciting.

What does she like about rowing? I love the culture and mateship that is fosters, and being surrounded by like minded people.

She is in her final semester of her degree in Sports Science and Business (Sports management) and is working at Runners World as the Social media and marketing coordinator.
